Classic Coleslaw

The traditional approach to a backyard favorite.


1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 Tablespoons cider vinegar

1 teaspoon honey

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 of a head of green cabbage, shredded (or sliced very thin)

1/4 of a head of red cabbage, shredded (or sliced very thin)

4 carrots, cut into thin julienne strips

1/2 teaspoon celery seeds



1. Combine the mayonnaise, vinegar, honey, salt and pepper in a medium sized bowl, and whisk everything together well to combine.

2. Combine the cabbages and carrots in a large bowl, tossing to combine.

3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot mixture and toss well to combine (you might not need all of the dressing).  Sprinkle celery seeds over the coleslaw and toss again.  Put the coleslaw in the refrigerator to chill and allow the flavors to combine for at least 1 hour.

4. Your Classic Coleslaw is ready!  Enjoy with burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, or any other casual food.
