Which New Jersey towns get free local delivery? Montclair, Bloomfield, Nutley, Glen Ridge, Verona and Belleville.

How does free delivery work? Just enter an address from one of these towns at checkout and shipping charges will magically be zeroed out. Our drivers are out making deliveries a couple times a week (more often in December) and will leave you order right at your doorstep (or wherever works best for you), and text you when it’s there. (Just like Amazon, but better!)

Why do you give 10% of profits to charity? Welp, when you own your own business, you can do whatever you want! We think that there's enough for everyone when we share what we have, so we're sharing. Each year, our team votes to choose the food-related cause for us to donate to. Examples are hunger relief, sustainable agriculture, clean water, child nutrition and relief after disasters. You can read more about this here.

Spices FAQs

Where do your spices come from? Our founder Lynley makes all our spice blends (except one, see the next sentence) by hand in small batches at our commercial kitchen in Montclair, NJ. Our Ethiopian Berbere Seasoning is sourced from our partners at Brundo Spice Co., a small woman-owned business who makes the blend in Ethiopia. The rest of our spices are sourced from many suppliers around the world. We look for organic or pesticide-free wherever possible, and single-origin and fair-trade spices wherever possible. See the product page for each spice for more about where each spice comes from.

Are your spices allergen-free? Gluten-free? We don't currently use any nuts, tree nuts, soy products, dairy products, eggs or gluten-containing ingredients in our production. However, we share commercial kitchen space with other food businesses, so it's safe to assume all of these products are present from time to time in the kitchen we work in.

Apron FAQs

I'm not sure which size I should get for my child? The Small size is recommended for most children aged 9 and under, with a height of 50 inches or less. The Large size is recommended for anyone over 50 inches tall, whether child or adult (in most cases, 10 year-olds and up). 

How can the same size apron fit 10 year-olds and adults? Believe it or not, it's mainly all in the neck strap! The neck strap on our Large apron is fully adjustable, so it will fit everyone from grownup men to your standard-issue 10 year-old. However, you should be aware that the Large apron will be a little roomy around the chest of most 10 year-olds. You can get a sense of the fit from the photographs here and here: the children shown wearing the Large size are all 10 or 11 years old, and 51-54 inches tall. These aprons are built to last, and we think you'll love the fact that your bigger child won't grow out of it.  

Can I choose what color my name should be? No, we can only offer the colors shown at this time. (I promise, they're beautiful!)

How much extra time will it take to personalize my apron? Please allow 10 additional days for personalization. 

What if I'm not happy with my apron? Return it for a replacement or a full refund, your choice! We've worked really hard to create these aprons, and we think you will be as completely thrilled with them as we are. But if for any reason you're not, I'll do everything in my power to fix it, no matter what. Guaranteed.

What are the washing instructions? "Machine wash warm. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron." (Not that they need it. Who irons an apron?) When we’re washing our own aprons at home, we usually pre-treat any any major splotches before throwing them into the washer.

What does "responsibly made in the USA" mean? Glad you asked! In the Adventure Kitchen, our food is made with LOVE, and we think aprons should be, too! So we went out of our way to find sources for our aprons that pay fair wages and have safe working conditions.

Our supplier uses American-made fabric to create these beautiful, sturdy aprons at fair wages in safe working conditions here in the USA. (Sadly, this is actually not the case for all American-made products.) From our supplier: "We dig deep to ensure everything we offer passes ethical standards and that no one is getting ethically 'finished' products with sweatshop-made components. We are trying to help create transparency and ethical practices from front to end of the entire production chain, and [we] stay away from suppliers we aren't 100% sure about."

So, do you have a problem with aprons made in other countries? Heck no! Adventure Kitchen is all about exploring the whole, wide world in all its glorious diversity. For this design, we wanted sturdy, white aprons for children and adults, and it just so happened that the only fair-trade source we could find at this time is right here in the USA (which is great!). We do have lots of ideas for future projects, though, some of which will most certainly be sourced outside the US.
