Adventure Kitchen Values

Lynley Jones

At Adventure Kitchen, our mission is bringing the world together through food and cooking.

These are the 7 values that guide the way we do things:

We choose fearlessly.

We’re committed to doing bold, important and ambitious things, and it can be scary to take a risk. We acknowledge fear when it shows up, but we don’t let it make our choices for us.

We tell the truth.

We honor each other and the important work we do by speaking the truth, with respect. We’re honest with the world and with each other about our work, the foods we eat, the people it comes from, and the consequences of our choices.

We take pride in our footprints.

We acknowledge that our work, like every other human endeavor, will leave a mark on the world, for better or worse. As we think about the planet and our fellow human beings, we choose to craft that mark into a legacy we can be proud of.

We’re on a journey of anti-racism and inclusion.

We recognize that none of us is perfect, and by speaking up honestly we can help pave the way for change. We’re committed to making choices that help to dismantle harmful norms that exist in food culture, in work culture and in the culture at large.

We cook joyfully.

We're not about guilt, rules, obligation or shame. At Adventure Kitchen, cooking is about joy and generosity.

We share abundantly.

With each other, with our customers, friends, business partners, hungry neighbors, and people in need. We freely share gratitude, praise, props, hospitality, time, talent and treasure. There’s plenty for everyone if we all share.

There's no such word as can't.

Because “can’t” is almost never the truth. Instead, we openly recognize the many choices in front of us, and we take responsibility for the decisions we make. (Thank you, Jack Jones.)
