We can't wait to meet you!

Culinary Adventure Tour Assistant (7/10-7/14 and 7/17-7/21)

Must be 18 or older.

Link to application

In this camp, we'll be touring NYC and/or Montclair each day with a group of about 10 kids ages 11-14 (entering 6th-9th graders). We will have pre-determined destinations in mind each day, but we will also be making unexpected discoveries throughout each day and all week. Click for a more detailed description of Week 1 and Week 2 of this camp.

The Tour Assistant must have good judgment about appropriate behavior and safety in various locations. Experience using public transportation is strongly preferred. The Tour Assistant must be physically fit and capable of walking, standing and climbing stairs throughout the day each day, as well as other physical demands as they arise. Our first concern is taking good care of our campers at all times. This is not a job for anyone who needs long breaks from physical activity.

Tour Assistant must have a smart phone capable of taking photographs (video a plus), and communicating with Lynley via text and voice.

The Tour Assistant must also have an energetic, positive attitude and willingness to try new things. Our goal is to coach the campers through many new experiences with an open mind, so we need to set a good example of encountering new experiences and ideas with a positive attitude and a sense of adventure each day.

Each day during camp, you will:

  • Meet Lynley at the Walnut St. train station at 8am to prep for the day and greet campers as they arrive.
  • Accompany campers on trains, subways and while walking from destination to destination. Help keep the group together, help kids find the bathroom when needed, and generally be engaged and alert to whatever other needs may arise.
  • Help coach kids to proper behavior in various settings, answer kids questions, and be available and ready for other situations as they arise, including minor first aid (bandages, etc.) if needed, under Lynley's direction.
  • Take pictures and video of our activities throughout the day and share them with Lynley (to be shared on social media).
  • Keep personal texts and phone use to an absolute minimum during your workday (eg, only if needed to coordinate your ride home, etc.).
  • Arrive back at the Walnut St. train station between 5pm-6pm each day, and help ensure all campers safely depart before you do.
  • All your meals and tickets to activities throughout each day will be paid for by Adventure Kitchen.

This will be a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for you, as well as for our campers! We're going to have so much fun!! If you think you may be the right person for this opportunity, please fill out an application. We'd love to talk to you!
