We’re currently looking for friendly, outgoing people to run our Ice Pop sales booth at the Montclair Farmers Market on Saturdays this summer. It’s a very independent position, pays well, and it’s fun!

First things first - all about our frozen ice pops, aka Spice Pops!

Spice Pops are our original, all-natural frozen sweet ice pops, in funky and fun flavors created by our founder, Lynley. They’re handmade in small batches right here in Montclair, NJ and infused with spices, herbs and lots of good summery stuff. Customers love them <3 and they’ll be eager to line up and buy them from you!

Adventure Kitchen Spice Pops

Spice Pop Lead Salesperson - Your Role:

Once you’re fully trained and ready, you’ll be running our Spice Pop sales booth on your own from beginning to end on Saturdays from 8:30am-2:30pm.

Here’s how it works:

1) 8:30am - You’ll load the pops into your car at our Kitchen Headquarters in Montclair Center, then drive over to the Montclair Farmers Market (5 minute drive).

2) About 9am until 2pm (or earlier if we sell out) - You’ll set up the Spice Pop sales table at the market (very simple setup) and text us some pics so we can share in social media. Then you’ll start selling!

3) About 2-2:30pm - At the end of your shift, you’ll load everything back into your car and return it to Headquarters. That’s it!

Compensation:

$125 every market day, plus bonuses when you reach sales targets! This position is paid on a per diem basis, rather than hourly. So you’ll get the $125 (plus possible bonuses!) as a stipend each time you work the booth. As described above, your total shift will be about 6 hours each day you work.

Additional training time will be paid at $15.50/hour.

Work Schedule:

Spice Pop season runs through September at the Montclair Farmers Market. Ideally, we’re looking for 2-3 salespeople to rotate Saturdays in this role for the season. You should plan to work at least 2 Saturdays each month, but we’re open to having you work more often if you want to. We’ll work with you to put together a schedule that works for everyone.

For the most part, Spice Pop sales are rain or shine. We have strategies to keep you in the shade, and under cover if it starts to rain while you’re working.

In cases of extreme weather, we may cancel your shift.

Hiring and Training Process:

Once you fill out an application, here’s what will happen:

1) If you seem like you may be a good fit for the position, we’ll be in touch to set up an interview.

2) If you’re selected to move forward as a finalist, you’ll be asked to work a few short shifts with Lynley at our Spice Pop booth at the farmers market. This will give you a sense of our business, and we can see what it might be like to work together. You’ll be paid $15.50/hour for your time.

3) We may ask you to participate in an additional interview or other activity before we make a final selection.

4) We’re hoping to close applications around 6/1.

If you’re selected for the position, we’ll get you started working at the farmers market right away. After a brief orientation, we’ll give you hands-on training, then you’ll be ready to work on your own!

You’ll be paid $15.50/hour for all training sessions. Our goal is to get you up and running on your own at the market with the full $125 per day as soon as you’re ready!

Who We're Looking For:

Spice Pops sales is a super fun job! You’ll meet lots of nice people and give them tasty treats all day long. We smile and greet everyone who comes our way, and we make new friends just about every day! You’ll work very independently, with a lot of responsibility. And you’ll collaborate with our Farmers Market Manager who will be running our main booth right beside you.

To be successful in this role, you should be:

  • Friendly and outgoing, comfortable chatting with new people all the time

  • A person who loves tasty treats!

  • Flexible and coachable

  • A good team player

  • Reliable and self-directed, with good judgment

  • Physically fit, able to stand throughout your shift and carry heavy coolers up and down stairs.

More About What to expect:

  • You’ll need a clean black shirt/sweater/top with no logos or writing to wear during each shift.

  • You’ll be handling money, keys and access codes, so we’ll need to run a background check to make sure you won’t have any issues with those tasks, and to keep everyone safe.

  • You’ll need a fully-charged phone with Bluetooth to use as a hotspot to connect our POS devices at the market each day you work. Most regular smartphones have these capabilities with an unlimited data plan.

  • Your phone will need to be on Do Not Disturb and put away out of sight during your shift.

  • You should be prepared to stand on your feet throughout your shift. We don’t sit down or lean on things while working at the market.
